Presentan Informe Sobre Deportados Dominicanos
Manhattan--Más de 36,000 dominicanos han sido deportados desde 1996, cuando el presidente Bill Clinton firmó la Ley de Reforma de la Inmigración Ilegal y la Responsabilidad Inmigratoria (IIRAIRA), y los dominicanos constituyen el 25% de la población carcelaria en el estado de Nueva York.
Las cifras corresponden al informe “Deportado, dominicano y humano”, realizado por la Coalición del Norte de Manhattan para los Derechos de los Inmigrantes (NMCIR), en colaboración con la Clínica de Derechos de los Inmigrantes de la Facultad de Derecho de la Universidad de Nueva York. Lea más.

Congresista destina fondos para la Coalicion del Alto Manhattan Para los Derechos del Inmigrante
Durante una ceremonia el congresista Jose Serrano presento un cheque a la Coalicion del Alto Manhattan Para los Derechs del Inmigrante, para que amplie sus servicios a la poblacion de inmigrantes de el condado de El Bronx. Durante el evento se dio a conocer la nueva oficina de la Coalicion en El Bronx, ubicada en el 2715 Bainbridge Avenue cerca de la calle 196, en El Bronx. Entre los programas que la Coalicion ofrecera estan servicios para ayudar a llenar aplicaciones de ciudadania, clases de ingles y educacion civica para los examenes de ciudadania. Dozens took to the streets of Washington Heights yesterday for an anti-deportation rally.

Immigration Advocates Protest Federal Reform Plan
Immigration advocates are speaking out against President Bush's plan to reform laws they say will hurt children.
The group "Families for Freedom" gathered outside the Javits Federal Building on Saturday, joined by kids whose immigrant parents have either been detained or deported.
"We see that it's a huge impact on children emotionally, psychologically. They begin to do worse in school, not want to eat, not want to sleep – you know – they go into a depression," said Raquel Batista of the Coalition for Immigrant Rights. Lea más y vea el vidéo.

Last Days To Register For New York Primaries
